Unfortunately, this has been happening to high level islands on and off since August 2021. I found these 6 posts on the Storm8 forum, posted by staff member Elsa:
First on 3/14/22:
"Our team would like to resolve this as soon as possible. While we're not absolutely sure, we think you're timing out due to the amount of information that's trying to load when you log into the game. A common denominator was extremely difficult to pinpoint since every player has unique islands. This will very likely require an update to the game client, which will be a significant body of work because other improvements will need to be included. Unfortunately, this means more waiting.
We appreciate your love for our game and understand that you've been waiting for good news. We're currently experiencing challenges with resources and are working to resolve those as soon as we can. Unfortunately, at this time I can't offer a date but I'll be sure to share more information as soon as it's available. Thank you for your continued patience and for all of the troubleshooting that you've completed to help us research this.
As for compensation, we'll evaluate this at a later time when the issue is resolved. Thank you again for your grace and patience.

To add clarity, the resource challenge right now is staffing. Staff projects can't be shifted right now. We're working to resolve this as soon as possible. Staff resource is always fluid, so while we may have shared previously that we have resources for certain things, this can change over time.
For the game update: the game will also need to be updated to align with new app store requirements which includes removing the ugly bars on the sides for iPhones and optimizing back-end things for performance. There's always unplanned obstacles that might happen ranging from simple to complex like updating art that might get stretched or adjusting a tap zone or any number of things for polish etc. As far as I know the current plan is to try resolving this in the next update and this will be primarily an optimization and fix update.
It will require waiting for all of this with a goal of "as soon as possible".
Third on 4/27/22:
"Hi everyone,
We don't have any new information to share that directly impacts Dragon Story at this time. I shared before that we have challenges with staffing and that some projects couldn't be shifted at the time. We are making progress in resolving those challenges, but I don't yet have a schedule other than our continued goal of 'as soon as possible'. We understand that it's been a long wait and we're working hard to solve this as soon as we can. Thank you so much for your continued patience! We haven't forgotten about you, Caretakers! <3"
Fourth on 5/2/22:
"You can expect that you may continue to experience this issue intermittently until our development team updates the game on the App Store. It's not expected to resolve on its own. We don't have a schedule on when an update will be available, but it's on our team's to do list."

"I'll share when more information is available. We're still experiencing challenges with staff and scheduling, but have made some strides to resolve this. There isn't a date to share on when Dragon Story will receive the update, but our team is working hard to take care of this! In addition to our fixes, there's App Store requirements that have to be completed too.
For those of you who also play Castle Story on iOS, you may have noticed the game recently received an update with some changes to help players log in. We found there wasn't any bug with the game, but if you've played for a really long time or have an ultra impressive Kingdom, then you might have some struggles logging in. There's still some things to smooth out, so if you're having struggles thanks again for bearing with us!
The things we learn from that will basically help us help Dragon Story, too. We believe this is the same issue.
The update for Dragon Story will come through the App Store the way Castle Story did for these fixes. It's possible when it's ready that you'll get it before I have the opportunity to post on the thread.
We appreciate the continued patience."

"Our development team is still working to address this as soon as they can. We know that you've been waiting patiently. There isn't any new information to share since our last update. Castle Story has a few adjustments that seem to have helped resolve this, so it's looking optimistic that this same approach can be applied to Dragon Story in the future."
Unfortunately, this has been happening to many people for a while now, usually those on iOS devices and during Dragon Tales. You can contact Storm8 and submit a request (top right corner) at support.storm8.com And you could also leave a comment in their forum here.

If you sign into Google Play Store with the account you used to initially download Dragon Story, you should be able to reinstall it.
In Google Play Store, open your Profile, choose My Apps & Games, then Library - scroll down until you find Dragon Story and reinstall it. Hope this helps!😊

Storm8's advertising service has had offensive ads in the past that several people objected to (especially parents). If I remember correctly once they knew the specific ad they would try to remove them. I'm guessing this ad was like one of those and it slipped through somehow.
Storm8 won't see your comments here on this wiki but seeing as how they advertise the game as 4+ (with no objectable content) they need to be more selective about the ads they allow. I would encourage you to contact Storm8 and submit a request (top right corner) at https://support.storm8.com They might want to know the name of the ad you are referring to. You can also leave a comment in their forum at https://forums.storm8.com/forumdisplay.php?209-Dragon-Story Hope this helps!😊
