<p>For me personally, it's mostly about getting a dragon that can have a decent chance at beating particular dragons in the battle arena.  I finally got mine and raised it to level 15, which was surprisingly cheap compared to my champions, and it's fared well against the other diamond hybrids in battle as well as a few others it has the best chance at beating.  It's helped me win a couple tournaments as well as meet the battle requirements in Dragon Tales because I always get 2-3 diamond hybrids during them. </p><p>This is one of the diamond types I actually like the apparenace of; I think some of them are awful, but that's only my opinion.  I would agree that the habitat limitation to 1 per habitat is a coplete ripoff and I wasn't aware of it until I had to place it. </p>

<p>Mine displayed 200 just like with regular breeding, so I chanced it and yes, it was 200 coins, not gold.  :) </p>

<p>After the last update, the game wouldn't even load for me until they fixed it for the iOS 5 users.  Even after their fix, it's very glitchy, particularly giving me phantom battles in the arena that never happened, but I'm locked out for an hour.  I haven't even attempted the new update yet since there was a world event and a battle tournament going on.  Are you using an older operating system, whether it's iOS or android?  That's probably it if so and support will tell you that there are problems running it on older operating systems, but they aren't looking to rectify that either.  I hope it clears up for you. </p>

<p>Congrats!  I think I was at level 124 when my persistence finally paid off.  I was attempting to breed the Arctic Isles diamond hybrids while waiting for my regular nest to clear out, but now with the Dragon Tales AND a tournament, my Diamond is staying out of the breeding den until both are over. </p>

<p>I get phases where I am super lucky and hit a couple 10 golds in a row.  I got a gold bar or two every couple of days if I am able to run 2-3 quests in a day. </p><p>I used to have 3 Fire dragons, but when I was running out of space because I had so many other dragons coming from the nest, I sold them. :(  I may reevaluate this later, like you suggest; I've seen this battle strategy before and have had success with my Epic Forest winning the final battle in a tournament. </p>

<p>I'll have to keep my Fire Dragon in mind, though he's usually busy trying to get me gold.  If they end up making tournaments harder, it won't be until everyone can level up their dragons to level 15, so hopefully they don't ever make them harder.  And yep, those food costs are gonna hurt. </p>

<p>It's such a pain trying to just get a Diamond.  I did it sans gold usage, but it still paid off.  My Diamond's going to finish evolving to level 10 in about 10 hours while I'm sleeping, so I can finally start breeding with it in the morning to see if I can get at least one Diamond Hybrid started. </p>

<p>Suzan mr9 is right.  If you have't gotten yours yet, Special12, this is what I personally did to get mine, although there are more ways: </p><p>The only way to start arctic dragons by breeding is to breed an Ice Age Dragon.  That is on your regular dragon island with Winter Dragon (breed blue and white if you don't have one yet) with any dragon that can provide the purple type.  Using Magic Dragon is the simplest (breed red and blue). </p><p>Then in the arctic isles, level up your Ice Age to breed with a Fuzzy Dragon (breed green and white to get one) to create an abominable type dragon.  I got an Abominable Dragon. </p><p>I leveled him up and bred my Ice Age Dragon with my Abominable Dragon until I got another abominable type dragon.  Then I bred those two abominable type dragons until I got Sabretooth. </p>

<p>I hope they don't make the battles or the tournament battles harder as a result either.  I am leveling up my Level 9 Diamond I've been evolving it as fast as I could since breeding it so I have it ready by the next tournament, though I also wanna try to get the two easiest hybrids bred also.  I need something that can beat Diamond Hybrids with because yet again, couldn't get past one.  Not sure if I'll level my Diamond past 10 first or start leveling up my four Champions... </p>

<p>Yep!  I was doing this for a while with 2 triple gem dragons and getting a lot of new combinations, but then I was running out of habitat room, so I switched to my other plan.  It's a very good way to boost your dragon variety for battles, breeding, etc while trying for a Diamond. </p>

<p>I am happy to finally report that after uncounted tries with a couple triple gem dragons and then 49 tries with Aphrodite x Laserlight, I have a 44 hr breeding time. :)  I have the habitat building now in preparation. </p><p>My choice of Aphrodite x Laserlight was a combination of misguided advice and logic.  I obtained Aphrodite out of luck with the Spin to Win wheel, so I know most people won't have it.  Seeing the combination in the breeding calculator gave me 9 options, I was misguided by others' advice that chances would be high with fewer options (incorrect decuction).  HOWEVER, out of the 9 possibilities, the fail time for the most frequent common (Love) is only 5 hours.  So I kept with it, dealing with the longer fail times of other dragons and trading them all for gems & large gems since the most common one was fast. </p><p>In the end, my percentages on 49 tries with this combo.  I know this won't be the same for everyone, but it can give others an idea that it is about persistance and luck: </p><p>Common: 42.86%, Rare: 42.86%, Super Rare: 12.24%, Ultra Rare: 2.04% </p>
