Story:
Dragon Tales: Bringing Balance[]
- Fire, Air, Water, Earth: all things are derived from the four elements of nature. Dragons in particular are inherently elemental beings and many are tied to the world itself.
- But what happens if there is an imbalance within the forces of nature? What if the elements have gone awry? Let me tell you a story of one instance of the elements needing balance restored on the Island!
- Balance was not something easily restored, however. What does balance mean? Equality in everything? Equity in strength and value? Free reign to achieve what is needed? There were as many ideas as there were those who disagreed with them.
- It was decided that a council would be formed to address the issue. If needed, a fellowship would be formed, but this was not an inevitability. Representatives from all elements convened at the Stormy Seas where the imbalance was taking a great toll.
- The council was headed by the great and honorable Wind Dragon who was attempting to oversee the erupting chaos from the imbalance. He sought to get the opinions of the other three elements, however. And so he spoke with an Oddfire Dragon who represented fire, a Stratum Dragon from the earth, and an Ice Dragon who took the matters of water very seriously.
- But the only thing louder than the storm was the arguments held by the representative! The Stratum Dragon argued for stability through solidarity. If everyone could get behind the earthen plan then things would settle down. This was hotly contested by the Oddfire Dragon who wanted to burn through the problem and settle everything with direct action!
- The Ice Dragon argued that infighting was wasting their time and only cooler heads could prevail. After hearing every representative, the Wind Dragon came to a conclusion. The chaos may be the source of the balance they so desperately sought...
- The notion of allowing chaos to persist only angered the other delegates, but the explanation came quickly. The imbalance in nature did not come from desire or greed, but a timid desire to stay out of the boundaries of the other elements. If the dragons were allowed to intermingle then things could return to their natural state.
- The Ice Dragon saw a cold logic in solving the problem by feeding it further. The Oddfire Dragon warmed up to the idea that the flame dragons could roam free once again. And the Stratum Dragon saw to it that there would be a grounded implementation of this plan. Finally, the Wind Dragon decreed that they would attempt to fight chaos with chaos!
- Lo and behold, this plan worked! By embracing their wild nature, the elemental dragons found that they brought their own balance to the world. It was not limitations that kept them in check but freedom to spread their wings that brought balance to the Island once more!
