I've been concerned about some of our event (Island Features) pages for a while and wanted to run something past you and get your opinion.
Tabs are being used on three of our event pages (World Event, Dragon Tales, & Leaderboard Event) due to the large amount of content for every single event and the large number of these events. This is causing issues (in my opinion) especially for mobile viewing. Now, I don't think the Leaderboard page is too bad yet but it could get there... So, I was thinking that maybe these pages should be split up. One main page for each event type (the ones we already have), these will keep basic info for what they are and then they will list the names of all the events. Then a page will be created for each event that has been released with its specific information... A bit of work I know, but I'm sure once I get the basic layouts decided it will be a breeze to set them up since all the info is already gathered.
I think it's a great and very needed idea. Especially for World Event page, it's way too crowded (seriously, I really don't like how it looks now, although it's the only way to make it clear). Also, it would make it easier to maintain all those new pages (I mean finally no scrolling for years to edit one thing :P) and muuch easier for people to get the info.
It shouldn't be hard, after main page is set up, it will just be a boring copy-past work with pages for each event. (maybe with some minor editing)
What do you think about merging up Dragon Tales, World Event and Leaderboard Event pages into a new one? (and just call it 'Events' or something else). IMO after leaving just basic info it won't take too much space. Then we will have one page for everything. Here we can also use our great, wonderful etc. (:P) switchers to make this events list like: "Current event" and "Finished Events" (I think it might easier for others to find newest event info, since there are so many of them). However I'm not sure if works correctly in mobile view.
Merging those pages might work well... but your right about mobile possibly being an issue. There are a ton of these events so we would need to have them listed with our fabulous switches in a well designed way. I think leaving the event pages alone until there is a good designed 'Events' page that works well is best. After the page is set the other pages can be deleted or redirected to the new one. :)

I'm not 100% sure if I'm getting your meaning exactly. However, if you mean just placing a switch on the current event pages to divide the information into previous - next/current (thus not making each event have its own individual page) that wouldn't really fix the problem. While a switch does help with the aesthetically pleasing aspect in desktop view (because tabs are really awful IMO), it doesn't really help with the issue on mobile viewing. I think if you check the Game Updates and Evolution Temple pages in mobile view you can see what I mean.

While I'm thinking about it I thought I'd see what you (or anyone else) think about the Events page that was suggested. I agree having all the events listed on one page is a good idea, however, I'm not fond of the idea of deleting the current pages for these events. Some of the events have been active for years. Deleting those pages would remove a ton of comments and thus remove years of "history".... Call me sentimental if you will (:P) but I don't like the idea of removing all those member comments from the wiki.
So, perhaps instead of merging all the pages into one "Events" I suggest having the "Events" page but using it to link to the current pages. It would have a section for all the different types of events on DS, with a basic explanation as to how each work. Yet, it will not list all the individual events. Each section will instead include a link to the current pages saying "For more information about the 'blah, blah events' and a list of all individual events included, please visit the 'blah, blah page'". Thoughts?
First of all, I might be wrong, but I think NightLullaby meant something like:

With links to the previous and next world events, respectively. I agree that this would be a good idea.
Also, I agree Knj00 that deleting those pages and their comments would be a bit unfortunate, and that your idea for a main page in addition to the pages for each event would remedy this.
Now I feel I might add an idea of my own. How about a category page for the events; similar to the Tournament Dragons category, and how the Battle arena page links to that, the main page for each event would link to these categories, thus making for quicker navigation.
Also, should there be some sort of note on the Masquerade Ball page stating how it was the first world event to re use dragons?
Adding switches/tabs in any way to try and keep several events listed on one page is what we are trying to avoid. Tabs and switches make mobile viewing/editing a pain. We are trying to move away from those as much as possible instead of finding new ways to use them.
I agree those categories (World Event Dragons, Leaderboard Dragon, and so on...) could be useful Xenon. Also, I think that note on the Masquerade Ball page is a good idea. I thought of adding it when creating the page but figured I could do it later... I was just trying to get the pages created asap so I could get ready for today's update (which I'm going to start doing now).

Hm, didn't think about those comments. I agree, we should not delete those pages. Now I think we don't have to worry about creating those lists of events on 'Event' page. Xenon's idea about categories is great, and with them we can just put a link to category page for each event. No beautiful switchers = no problems for mobile devices.
NightLullaby's idea is great too, might help others to navigate through all those event pages. Just created a post on my blog, it would work like this.

Will DT and LB pages be looking same/similar to WE ones? If yes, I can start creating them, I have some time today. Don't won't to be useless as always, lol.
Haha, yeah after I thought about it I realized I had it all wrong and tested the idea on my blog. I agree it is a good idea.
Really haven't thought too much about the other pages yet, but yes I think a similar idea is good. Keeping the same format that each event already displays the info with, then adding the dragons at the top, and any extra notes that the individual page would need. Also, your not nearly useless. :P

I would also like to keep the existance of events' main pages - there are so many good comments of users, so many emotions and nested forces, it is worth to save them! To have a list of events with link to the each individual page is great.
UPD: I'm quite unsure about terms of each event I created individual page for. And for some reasons I can't add the category "Dragon Tales Event" to the pages. Also our fabulous switches appeared since "Royal Flash", so I can only copy-paste it, not edit, and if something was done wrong or requires some changes... please welcome to fix it :D

After I deal with all DT pages I'll try to work at this "Event" page.. do you think it should contain wheel info? It's kind of event too. Also, I think that it's a good time to think about a small renovation of Spin to Win page. It's crowded and I don't even want to check it on mobile view, >.<
I was wondering if we can keep active events' info on the main pages... and remove it (make it's page) once they are over. That way it would reduce the amount of pages users will have to go through to get the info. And it might reduce confusion since the pages will appear the same (except for the list of previous events).
That's kinda what I was thinking Curlyee. I figured the new page could be created when released but the info would be on the main event page also. That way players that are used to it being on those pages can still go there if they want.
Just tossing in my 2 cents: I love the idea of a 'current events' page(s)! The Tales page, in particular, is slow to load on my device, I think because it has so much info on it. Streamlining access to the info on active events would be wonderful upgrade to the site.
Besides hopping between the various event pages, the other page I visit constantly is the breeding calculator. It is a very handy tool to have when trying to figure out how to best tackle all the events. Including a direct link to the breeding calc. from the new events page(s) would be helpful and efficient (and I could have just one bookmark for all my urgent DS needs! Yay!😄)
Thank you all so much for the time and effort you put into creating and maintaining this site. I appreciate it immensely and wouldn't enjoy the game nearly as much without all your hard work. I wish I could help or contribute in some way, but I've tried looking at the Wiki tutorials/guides several times and just don't get it. It took me almost two days to figure out how to add list columns to my profile.😶
@Happybirdy I do understand that a link to the breeding calculator would be helpful from the main 'Events' page, but I'm not quite certain where one would put it... It would kinda stick out as just a random link to an almost unrelated (imo) page like "So here's all this info about the major events, because that's what this page is for, and by the way we have a breeding calculator" I'm not saying it's a bad idea; it would be helpful, but kinda random imo...
Honestly it'd be better if one could just put a link to that page on the main DS wiki toolbar, but I'm not even sure how one could do that (or if it's even possible)...
A Breeding Calc link sounds nice, especially for the Limited Dragons they bring out each week. The Popular Pages Insights list it and the Battle Calc as the top two viewed pages. Maybe if it's put at the bottom along with the Battle Arena Calc link under a header like "Strategy Helps" or in some totally different way. If they do decide to add the link I bet Knj00 and HuckBellery will find a way to make it look great. :)

What do you all think about me adding another main tab to Wiki Navigation? There are currently 4 main tabs: "On the Wiki", "Dragon Story", "Wiki Content", and "Community". I could add another tab, perhaps called "Strategy Help" ;), and it can link to the Breeding Calc., Battle Calc. and maybe a couple more (I'm open to suggestions).
@Knj00 that's exactly what I meant when I said DS wiki toolbar. Something like that, with both calculators, and maybe the Dragon Types page and Limited Dragons page... If possible, maybe Sylvandr's battle arena blog as well...
Ok, big changes with all the dragons they made breedable today. This changes them slightly in the Battle Arena due to the breeding rarity section. However, they may revert that section to unbreedable once the sale is over (there is a chance they just remove them from the market though, without changing that section). So, I figured I will wait to make any changes in the Battle Arena Calc. data until the sale is over and I see what they do. It is just too much work to change them all now when they may revert next update day.
Just wanted to give you info as to why I'm not changing them yet. :)
Just wanted to give you a heads up that I might not be around right at update time today. I have an appointment an hour and a half before today's update. I should be home in time but wanted to let you know just case I'm not.
I don't think there will be much today besides some re-release stuff but I'm not 100% sure since info is not updated yet. I should have time later today to get more stuff added here for that new Bingo event.
I'm only planning on dealing with anything new, not Bingo related, now. Later I'll do more Bingo stuff, I would just like to get some school work done before a certain time. I'm sure you understand that.
Thanks soooo much for doing those eggs!!! I have totally failed at getting them done the last two weeks. Between school, my daughters birthday, my mother-in-law having a seizure, and the anniversary of my sister-in-laws passing I'm going crazy. Last week and this week have been and will remain to be a blur. I know we all get busy but darn... I'm due for a break! lol Ok, done with the pitty party. :P

I have newer players asking me if you have to be at certain level to be able to play in it. I've looked but can't find an answer. I believe anyone can play at any level. Am I correct?
I was going to start updating the data but then decided I needed a few questions answered first. Plus the way the data is displayed makes it look like it will be "interesting" adding all the additions since it went down.
Just wanted to let you know I am working on updating the wikia breeding calculator today. I've already been at it for a while and I have a lot more to do. Over 280 dragons have been released since it went down so it's going to take a while.... especially with how meticulous I must be.
After I get it updated (which may take longer than just today), I will start creating the needed pages and getting info to have the Battle Calculator up and running next.

Know your pain, after I set up offsite calcs there were many dragons missing (well, definetely not as many as here now) and it made my eyes painful. -_- Too bad we can't simply copy list from offsite calc here. ;_;
The code for the Breeding Calc. is (should be) fully updated. I submitted it for review early yesterday so I expect it to be approved sometime today (hopefully), after that the updated version should be live. Once I submitted the code I put it in test mode and it looks like it all works so that's good news.
I'm going to start working on the Battle Calc. today. However, that one I must create the pages and start the code almost from scrap in js (no wikia staff to help this time). It will take a bit more time and I'm probably going to only start with the data that was already here. After making sure it will all work properly I will fully update it.
Hey Huck, I'm taking off for a bit but I'll be back later to finish anything that still needs done. I'm also going to try and get the majority of the work done tonight for the Battle Arena Calc to be updated. Just wanted to let you know.
