Dragon Story Wiki

Pearl Dragon Information[]

Baby Form Juvenile Form
Pearl Dragon eggs are very sensitive and easily bruised, requiring dragon mothers and Caretakers to be extra attentive. In ancient times, Caretakers would place these eggs in giant molluscs on the ocean floor, so the dragons would be protected until they hatch. This led to the inaccurate rumors that Pearl Dragons naturally hatch from molluscs in the wild. Pearl Dragons' wings are ideal for both flying and swimming, which is why Caretakers like to hatch Pearl Dragon eggs underwater. Once they hatch, they stretch out their fin-shaped wings, swim to surface, and take to the sky.
Adult Form Epic Form
Natural pearls are very rare in our world, but they are abundant in the Dragon Realm. Pearl Dragons from the Dragon Realm shed their pearls once a month, and the pearls grow back to their full size within a week. While the Dragon Realm is littered with piles of priceless pearls, Pearl Dragons in our Realm do not shed their gemstones... much to the dismay of jewelers. Though Epic Pearl Dragons are covered from horn to claw in their precious namesake material, they do not shine in the sun. The pearls absorb the light, which gives them a soft glow when exposed to the sun. As they fly across their Island sky, they blend seamlessly into the white puffy clouds, while Caretakers down below gaze above and try to make out the shapes.

Availability[]

The Pearl Dragon is obtainable:

  • By purchase at the market for 1,800 Gold.
  • By breeding two dragons that collectively contribute Gemstone and White to the type pool. If a parent has the appropriate minor types, missing requirements may also be added to the pool, even if neither parent has the originally required types. Minor types that have been split from other minor types can also contribute their component types to the type pool.
  • DISCLAIMER: When attempting to breed the Pearl Dragon, you may get other offspring instead. Check the Breeding Calculator to view all of the possible results of combining a particular pair of parents.

Parents Behavior[]

The Pearl Dragon has special behavior when it is used as a breeding parent. Unlike dragons with only basic types, it will obey the following rules:

  • When the Gemstone type is alone in the pool, it will add pure dragons of its component types (Green and Blue) to the list of possible outcomes, but it will not split into its component types. When Gemstone is included in the pool along with one or more other types, the Gemstone type can split into Green and Blue. However, if it is split, then Gemstone is no longer in the pool for the duration. Thus, the presence of Gemstone in a pool will either add the Gemstone type if it does not split or the Green and Blue types if it does split. There is one exception to this rule, and that is when both parents possess the Gemstone type. In this case, Gemstone can contribute both itself and its split colors at the same time.
  • Although the Gemstone type can split into Green and Blue for breeding purposes, it still only counts as one type. This is important when considering the number of types for type-amount-dependent dragons such as the Diamond Dragon. Breeding an Air Dragon with a Pearl Dragon only counts as three types: Yellow, Gemstone, and White.

Notes[]

  • On July 17, 2013 the Pearl Dragon and all other gemstone dragons became breedable.
  • Craft time for the Pearl Dragon is 24 hours, while incubation is only 18 hours.
    • The Pearl Dragon was previously obtainable by crafting but was removed from the Spell Shop on March 6, 2018.
  • The Pearl Dragon's design is based upon the Diamond Dragon's, although there are differences between the two.
