The other dragons will inexplicably become interested in something else, will become vastly sleepy, or will get caught in a particularly strong headwind (which never affects the Four-Leaf Dragon). If two or more Four-Leaf Dragons race each other, the outcome will always be a tie.

The Caretaker - armed with his seven rabbits' feet attached to a horseshoe - bet against an Epic Four-Leaf Dragon in the annual Dragon Derby. The man not only lost the bet, but also his lucky keepsake when it snagged on the wing of his favored dragon it was racing by.
